Susan Schnabel
Co-Managing Partner, Co-Founder
Susan C. Schnabel is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of aPriori Capital Partners, an independent leveraged buyout fund advisor created in connection with the spin-off of DLJ Merchant Banking Partners (“DLJMBP”) from Credit Suisse (“CS”) in 2014.
Prior to forming aPriori Capital, Ms. Schnabel worked at Credit Suisse as a Managing Director in the Asset Management Division and Co-Head of DLJ Merchant Banking Partners. She was responsible for originating new investments and monitoring existing investments and served on its Investment Committee.
Ms. Schnabel joined Credit Suisse in November 2000 through the merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where she was a Managing Director. Prior to the merger with Credit Suisse, Ms. Schnabel spent three years at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, and was responsible for directing DLJ’s principal investing activities in the Los Angeles office. Prior to that Ms. Schnabel served as Chief Financial Officer of PETsMART (PETM). Previously, Ms. Schnabel worked at DLJ starting in 1990 and has held various positions in their investment banking operations, specializing in public and private high yield debt and equity financings and mergers and acquisitions advisory for a variety of industries including retail and consumer, energy, telecommunications and technology. Prior to that, she worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert, Beverly Hills, in 1988 as an associate.
Ms. Schnabel currently serves as a Director of Arcade Bioplan, Enduring Resources, Jostens Corp. (Visant Holdings), Laramie Energy, Luxury Optical Holdings and Summit Gas Resources. She formerly has served on the boards of Neiman Marcus, STR Holdings (NYSE:STRI), Rockwood Specialties (NYSE:ROC) and Shoppers Drug Mart (TO: SDM)
Ms. Schnabel serves on the Harvard Business School Alumni Advisory Board, the Cornell University Council and the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Music Center Foundation. Susan is a member of the Leadership Council of International Medical Corporation (IMC), US Olympic & Paralympic Foundation Trustee Council, C200 and The Pacific Council.
Ms. Schnabel holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
